NOSTALGIC (Summer Reveries)
MINIMA GALLERY 01.07.2026 – 01.11.2026 On 1 July, MINIMA GALLERY presents in Mykonos the group exhibition NOSTALGIC (Summer Reveries), an exploration of nostalgia as a mechanism of memory, experience, and the construction of both personal and collective identity. Summer has long stood as one of the most enduring cultural and emotional archetypes. It is a season in which the perception of time is transformed, light reshapes our experience of place, and memories acquire an almost cinematic intensity, allowing the past to persist as an active presence within the present. Through painting, sculpture, and mixed media, the participating artists approach nostalgia not as an act of sentimental retrospection, but as a generative force that shapes the ways in which we perceive ourselves and the world around us. Personal narratives, imagined landscapes, journeys, intimate encounters, and moments of summer leisure converge to form a rich visual dialogue in which memory becomes a meeting point between lived experience and imagination. The landscape of Mykonos serves as a central point of reference throughout the exhibition. Here, the Mediterranean is understood not merely as a geographical destination but as a cultural and psychological space, where light, sea, and human presence compose a timeless iconography of freedom, desire, and contemplation. The memory of the Greek summer—its radiant light, the warmth of the sun, the endless blue horizon, and humanity's enduring relationship with nature—emerges as a recurring motif throughout the exhibition. Rather than idealizing the past, these images reveal how memory continues to shape our understanding of place, identity, and aspiration. NOSTALGIC (Summer Reveries) invites viewers into an immersive experience where individual memories intersect with collective imagination, and where nostalgia is transformed from emotion into visual language.
